SUMMARY:Purple Hull Pea Festival
DESCRIPTION:Purple Hull Peas are the caviar of the South\, but it takes a lot of purple thumbs shelling those peas to get a spoonful. Living on Shady Grove Road are three generations of the best pea shellers in the South. \nOn Oct 13th at 2:00 p.m.\, the Wise siblings will take the stage to have a pea shell off. The winner will have bragging rights for a year. This event will kick off the First Annual Purple Hull Pea Shell Off at Wise Family Farm. Any and all are invited to participate. The entry fee is $5.00 and will be donated to Shady Grove Cemetery Fund. So come join the fun or grab you a bowl of Monroe’s purple hull peas and cornbread and enjoy the show. There will also be story telling hour and live music. \nThe Purple Hull Pea Festival is 10:00 am to 10:00 p.m Saturday (last admission is sold at 9:00 p.m.) and 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday (last admission is sold at 9:00 p.m.).
